Today we took a closer look at butterflies. I was able to get real butterflies from The Butterfly House near St Louis. The kids loved using the magnifying glasses to look at the wings, antenna, and proboscis!
Next, we went on a butterfly hunt. I had planned to do this outside but we had storms pass through last night and left everything too muddy. We still had a great time!
You can get the butterflies and graphing paper along with a more challenging graph in my
"Butterfly Life Cycles and More" unit in my TpT store.
Then we made a MESS!!! We experienced what it is like to be snug inside a chrysalis and then transform into a beautiful butterfly.
I linked up with this wonderful blog. Click here for more great butterfly ideas!
These are terrific ideas. I especially love the kids emerging as butterflies! This week’s theme for the Discover and Explore linky is butterflies. I’d love for you to come share this idea if you are interested.

I'm not sure which is cuter - the binoculars or the cocoon (such a creative unit)! So nice of the Butterfly House to give you insects to explore; such a great science opportunity for kids. Thanks so much for linking up at Discover & Explore this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you and you are welcome! I love the idea of a weekly themed linky. I'm so glad to be part of it and get to collect lots of great ideas from others there! I'll stay in touch!
